Deniz Undav (simply “Undav”; English name: Deniz Undav), born on July 19, 1996, is a German footballer from Varel, Germany, who plays as a forward. His career initially stalled when Werder Bremen’s youth academy rejected him due to his height; after playing for several lower-division teams, he joined Sint-Truiden in the Belgian Second Division in 2020. In the 2021–22 season, he won the Golden Boot in the Belgian Pro League with 18 goals and was named Belgium’s Footballer of the Year. In January 2022, he transferred to Premier League side Brighton for €7 million, though he was later loaned back to his previous club. In August 2023, he moved on loan to VfB Stuttgart, where, in his first season, he recorded 18 goals and 9 assists, helping the team finish as runners-up and secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League. In August 2024, he made the move permanent, and in September, he scored on his Champions League debut against Real Madrid. In March 2024, he received his first call-up to the German national team and made his debut. He was included in Germany’s Euro 2024 squad in June, and in September, he scored his first goal for the national team.
